Teacher Cultural Exchange Program

Fall of 2022 marks a hallmark season in the history of ADASA, as we launch a brand new, and first of its kind, teacher cultural exchange program, in collaboration with the Department of Education and the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic.

The 25 bilingual educators that have been recruited as part of ADASA’s cultural exchange program, will be entering into high-need bilingual education positions to help close the achievement gaps and provide educational equity for immigrant students throughout our city. At ADASA, we believe that not only should our immigrant students be afforded an excellent education from qualified pedagogues, but they should also be able to connect and share in cultural experiences and commonalities with teachers, that ultimately deepen and enhance their educational journey.

We are so excited knowing that this first cohort of 25 teachers, from various towns and municipalities of the Dominican Republic, will be torch bearers for many more cohorts to come. While they are pioneers of a program that will have long lasting future implications, they are more importantly, part of a current and tangible solution to NYC’s cultural divide as bilingual educators provide the best educational experience for our ever-growing immigrant student population.
