Association of Dominican-American Supervisors and Administrators (ADASA)
“Committed to the children’s Education”
Message from the President
“Full many a gem of purest ray serene,
The dark unfathomed caves of ocean bear:
Full many a flower is born to blush unseen:
and waste its sweetness on the desert air.”
The above lines from the poet Thomas Gray express the idea that often people’s talents
may go unnoticed and unused. I believe that the real art of leadership lies in a
leader’s ability to recognize the variety of gifts people bring to institutions, to help
nurture, polish and liberate those gifts for the benefit of the institution as a whole.
You belong to a very distinguished organization; one that gives you the opportunity
to develop your own leadership skills in order to enhance the quality of education in our
public schools. As you are all aware, the goals of ADASA include providing
professional development, support, and networking opportunities for its members.
As your newly-elected President, I am committed to meeting these goals. I know that I have
your whole-hearted support; please know that you have my support every step of the way.
We all have heard the statement that “no man is an island”. Therefore it
is only through the active participation of all of the members of this organization that
we are going to truly succeed. ADASA simply cannot survive without your input.
I look forward to seeing you all at our meetings and events during the school year.
The ultimate goal of our organization is to enhance our leadership skills so
that we can provide a quality education that will help liberate and nurture the
talents and skills of our children. We are firmly committed to supporting the
education reform initiatives of our chancellor and mayor. These reforms have already
bore fruit; we have achieved the highest high school graduation rates in decades
with an ever increasing number of our public school students entering college.
We have to continue to work hard to impress upon our community of parents and
students the importance of education in their children’s lives so that they can
advance in American society and achieve economic success.
I look forward to our collaboration to take ADASA to new heights. I wish
you all a very successful school year. Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Francesca Peña,
Ms. Francesca Peña
President of ADASA
